Redcliffe Museum
History
buffs can learn about Queensland’s early days of European
settlement by visiting the Redcliffe Museum.
Appropriately, the museum is situated on the banks
of Humpybong Creek, which served as the water supply for the first
settlement on the Peninsula.
The museum building itself originally served as
a church until the late 1990s.
Many of the displays are interactive and some
exhibits are able to be handled and experienced by visitors. The
museum includes artefacts from its original in habitants the Ningy
Ningy people, as well as remnants from its early convict days.
Of special note is the Spectra-Vision Theatre
exhibit which combines historical objects with the latest 3-D technology
to tell the story of Redcliffe to date.
There's plenty of free parking next to the building
and entrance to the museum is also free. The museum is open Tuesday
to Sunday, from 10am to 4pm and is closed Christmas Day, Boxing
Day, Good Friday and Easter Monday.
